Why cant I type just my domain name into a browser and still get there?

Its all about how lucky you are feeling today. Or well how lucky Google thinks you are. Bambi (that is her real name) has a web site which i cannot will not want to am prohibited to show.

Lets just say its an acquired taste illegal in most states, But I digress...

Hi there Mister Admin Guy. Why can't I type just my domain name into a web browser and get to my website. It works for Google, Hotmail and even Asktheadmin. Enough with this http, www or .com bullshit! Not all my clients are so technically advanced. Make mine go?

xoxo Bambi

Interesting question from a interesting person!

I experimented and looked into it and this is not a DNS issue as I first thought. You can not configure this functionality. If you are ranked number one in Google for the search term of your domain name AND The Google is your default search engine it will use its feeling lucky feature to take you to the first page it links to. For example if your website is askTheAdmin and you goto your webbrowser and type in just Asktheadmin and Google is set as your default search engine it will lookup the word "asktheadmin" and return you to the first page in the search... Right to our website.

But if you have a domain name that uses some not so pleasant words or a domain that is not indexed by Google or even if you are not using Google as your search engine this will fail.

Am I making sense to you guys?

Because our porn star question asker didnt like my answer. She said:

Just make it work for me. Pretty please.

Sorry hun you need to get a better ranking for your colorfully explicit domain name! And no we will not be linking to you! But thanks for the question.
