Why can't I see the borders around my labels in Word 2003?

Jane writes to us that her boss gave her the task to create address labels for file folders around the office. She has used the feature in Word 2003 before and went to Tools... Envelopes and Labels...

She chose her label type and hit new document expecting to see a page of blank labels. Instead she saw a blank page! Something was not right here and she could not figure out what it was or how to fix it!

Over at AtA headquarters we have seen this before and I was able to fix Janey up dumb quick. Here is what we had to do:

  1. Open a page of labels like we showed you above.
  2. Click Table on the menu bar (Or Alt-A)
  3. Click Show Gridlines.

And that's it the borders have returned and you can go back to entering your data! This feature does the same thing for ANY tables within word.
