Question: Laptop batteries - What is the best method for long battery life?

We all own laptops and sometimes are away from electricity for some time and carry multiple batteries. I hate running out of juice and i really HATE batteries that last a few months and then aren't worth the time to even charge them. Dropping from 4 hours of run time to sub 20 minutes. We have gotten used to it over the years and leared a thing or two about life cycles and max amounts of charges. But we still notice some laptop batteries degrade a lot faster then others. We have had a few readers write in and ask about best practices.

Do you leave your battery in all the time? Does it depend on the model? My cell phones says to leave it plugged in as much as possible is this the same for my laptop? Are they both Lithium Ion? Are you suppose to leave them full or half charged for storage? Is there a way to resurect a battery that wont hold a charge?

Edit: Update my batteries are deader then before (no charge @ all) nothing brought them back.

Verdict: Don't leave your batteries in your laptop while connected to power for extended periods of time or it will degrade the life of it.

I will post a full update and my findings shortly...
